10 MFWIC's Who Stole the Show

VIEW ALL TOPICS

These characters may not have been the lead, but they owned it anyway!

[NOTICE: For definition of MFWIC, click HERE]

1. Sgt. Kenneth Hall
Kenneth (Ving Rhames) dominated everything in the Dawn of the Dead remake (2004). Living, dead, or undead, you would learn to just stay out his way. He could wield his pistol grip "shotty" with serious speed and accuracy. He remained cool as the world went to hell, and even provided some deep philosophy to the group.

2. Daryl Dixon
Daryl (Norman Reedus) will undoubtedly become this generation's "Chuck Norris." He is a living legend in this incarnation of the zombie apocalypse on The Walking Dead. He will return in season 5 and will surely add to his fabled ability to slay the undead. Armed with a crossbow, knife, and axe, he can dispatch a small herd. That's definite MFWIC territory, and thus, he steals the show from the leader, Grimy Rick.

3. Toguro (Younger)
Scientists say that zero Kelvin is impossible, but this man's sun shades and icy veins say other wise. Toguro is a down right behemoth when in demon mode, but he has the calculating intelligence of a Batman villain. His military haircut and chiseled facial features further add to his imposing demeanor. His MFWIC moment is when he carried the new battle ring to the new fight stadium after the previous one was destroyed (it looked like he was carrying a 747 plane).

4. Joker (Heath Ledger)
Some men indeed want to watch the world burn, which makes their intentions meaningless. This version of the Joker was dead on, to the extent of human imagination. He got into Batman's head and wrought havoc over Gotham.

5. Fox
This femme fatale (Angelina Jolie) knew her way around a gun, and knew how to make bullets go around her. She worked for an assassin fraternity and fought off various super gunmen throughout the film Wanted (2008). Her MFWIC moment is when she realized the fraternity was corrupt and curved ONE bullet through everyone's head, and finally her own. In the end, her belief in her cause prevailed!

6. Mac Eliot
Mac (Bill Duke) started as a quiet MFWIC, but transitioned into super warrior in order to match the deadliness of the Predator. Just before he could elevate to untouchable MFWIC, the Predator "cheated" and blew a plasma hole through his face (the only sure way to end this brand of super MFWIC).

7. Vegeta
The Prince of ALL Saiyans is the greatest tragic hero of all time. Not only is his race on the verge of extinction, but there is no one who will concede to his bad-assery. However, this doesn't bother a MFWIC such as he, so he just trained. Even though his training never made him THE best, his total dedication to improve himself sent him into clear MFWIC-tery.

8. Amon
Amon changed what it means to be equal. His absolute ruthless nature and skill against benders made him the ultimate villain in this franchise.  To even go in to his ability to take away bending would cause fans to froth about the mouth, so here is his MFWIC moment instead.

9. Jessica Pearson
Counselor Pearson (Gina Torres) runs a TIGHT ship. She is a senior partner at her law firm and everyone ought to be aware, because the slightest shred of disrespect will be costly. She is a MFWIC in how she handles her extremely intelligent underlings. She is able to maintain order in an atmosphere that breeds so much competitive madness. Her drive to win (by a mile) sets her apart from other law-practicing characters. She has multiple MFWIC moments due to her many promises of retaliation at the hint of a threat (especially in defense of her colleagues). Her leadership makes her a special kind of MFWIC; she can handle the pretentious Louis Litt, and the precocious Mike Ross.

10. Kenpachi Zaraki
No matter how psychotic or willing someone is, they will never come close to the immense power that Kenpachi brings. He purposely limits himself in fights because he is "too strong." His greatest MFWIC moment is definitely his fight with Nnoitra. The battle pushed him to use TWO hands on his zanpakuto (his sword). In this form, he is apparently unstoppable, because the six-armed (with scythes) Nnoitra somehow lost. On one occasion, Kenpachi was on the brink of being sent to an inescapable dimension, so he just flexed his spiritual energy and killed the poor chap (oops).

First Look of Henry Cavill in Batman V Superman

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Henry Cavill looks mighty super as the Man of Steel!

The first image of actor Henry Cavill suited up as the Man of Steel has made its way to the web. The image shows Cavill with his hair slicked back in the full superman uniform as the rain comes down on top of a roof in a dark and gloomy city (which looks like Gotham). So maybe we will see the two juggernauts duel it out in Gotham just like the famous graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns."

As of now, the movie is scheduled to be released on May 6, 2016.

So does this image get you excited?

DualShock 4- Now Syncs with PS3

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Old system with new-gen control!

Sony's has released a little gift in its latest firmware update!

In an attempt to make the DualShock 3 obsolete, Sony (owners of PlayStation) has created an updated for the PS3 so that it can wirelessly sync with the new DualShock 4 controller. Before this update, the DualShock 4 was only accessible to the PS4.

Keep in mind, syncing the new controller to the PS3 will require re-syncing with the PS4. In that case, it's just a matter of connecting the controller to the console, turning it on, and pressing the PS button on said controller.

'G.I. Joe 3'- New Writer

VIEW ALL TOPICS

The next G.I. Joe film will focus on Dwayne Johnson's character, ROADBLOCK!

The new script will be written by Jonathan Lemkin and the only detail is that the story will be centered on Roadblock. He became the de facto leader of the Joes when Duke inexplicably bit the dust (and never returned).

There's no doubt that Roadblock is a MFWIC and his character works well with the other returning Joes, but so far, Lady Jane (played by Adrianne Palicki) is the only other confirmed cast member.

The film still has no director attached after John M. Chu left the franchise (due to a production delay) to direct another Hasbro film, Jem and the Holograms.

Latest Movie Trends

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Have you noticed these trends?

1. No More Numbers

Studios are less likely to number the films in a franchise (Lethal Weapon, 2, 3, 4). This is for several reasons: using a subtitle gives a snapshot of the plot, the audience is lost after 3, eliminates obscurity and a studio's perceived greed.

Would you really go see X-Men 6? Hell no. Would you go see X-Men: Apocalypse? Hell yes! Would you go see Jurassic Park 4? [Yawn.] How about Jurassic World? [Boing!]

Besides the title itself, the audience has been condition by the law of threes, that is, Three Acts, Three in a row, Three strikes, you're out. Some of the greatest franchises are trilogies: The Matrix series, The Dark Knight series, Fist Full of Dollars series, Lord of the Rings series, Hobbit series. Star Wars loves trilogies so much, it's on its third trilogy; a trilogy of trilogies!

With this established pattern, it would be difficult for even a successful film franchise to step beyond a third film. This is why it's highly PHENOMENAL that the X-Men films have saved themselves from extinction (all thanks to DOFP).

This new trend of placing [colon, words] instead of a number will continue, thanks to the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World).

2. No More Reboots

Fewer desperate reboots, and fewer "try too hard" sequels. This is the age of the "Re-invented Sequel." The re-invented sequel is one that does NOT disregard previous mythos, but DOES give us new characters and a completely fresh setting for the story to continue.

The Predator franchise epitomizes this concept because each film in the series is different. The scenes, Predators, and prey never appear twice. The Purge series also follows this formula with its story revolving around the annual purge, but each film focusing on a different purge/situation.

Transformers: Age of Extinction falls into this category, but it somehow slid into "try too hard" sequel
by the end.

Upcoming re-invented sequels are: Jurassic World, untitled Predator film, Terminator (formerly Terminator: Genesis), Mad Max: Road Fury.

3. Cinematic Universes

A cinematic universe is a collection of franchises and crossover films that are set in the same fictional universe. The scientific continuity, as well as character development are maintained through every film in the cinematic universe.

The prime example is the Marvel Cinematic Universe; its characters have standalone films and appear in crossover films to team up as the Avengers. These films are produced by Marvel Studios (owned by Disney).

Full Size, Here
Also in the superhero side, there is the Fox Cinematic Universe. This includes the X-Men franchise and eventually will included crossovers with the Fantastic Four (assuming this desperate reboot finds success).

Another try was the Alien vs. Predator franchise, but it failed to gain traction.

Rumors have the Transformers franchise crossing over with the G.I. Joe franchise, but two shaky franchises may not yield a strong universe. On the other hand, these two classics have met before in the comics, so there is precedent for a stronger story than either franchise has produced thus far.

4. Ratings Creep

We have have noticed the increasing amounts of sex, and mostly, violence that goes on in a PG-13 film...and we're okay with that.

This is likely an unspoken deal between the studios and the MPAA to boost ticket sales.

5. Neutered Action
Fewer action films carryout complex stunts without completely flooding the scene with computer generated effects. Nothing is wrong with augmentation and movie magic, but it should not be a test digital art skills over digital composites (with real objects).

This is Christopher Nolan's use of digital composites. He is known for using this method over full CGI sequences.

This is the most irksome action sequence EVER. It's literally 97% CGI. Only Hawkeye and the final shot of Thor are real. Why did they make this film live-action?

THIS is action! If it's not hand-to-hand combat, then it should be destructive car chases and high octane thrills (with real fire).

FIFA '15- Incredible Graphics (VIDEO)

VIEW ALL TOPICS

The graphics for the upcoming FIFA '15 are close to perfect!

Above: Real picture of striker, Eden Hazard
Below: 3D render for FIFA '15
The improved skin replication will go along with improved movements (breathing) and higher resolution hair (Cuadrado, David Luiz).

The stadiums and pitches will also receive upgrades. The flags will react to the ball and the goal's posts and net will rattle when struck by strong shots. The pitch will be more alive with moisture and dirt reacting realistically to the play on the field. Tacklers will be dirty and their grooves will be visible on the grass. It is unconfirmed how the ball will interact with the rugged field, but it's a small detail compared to the large dose of reality being injected in to the next chapter of FIFA.

Here is a trailer for the gameplay features:

Hulk and Guardians of the Galaxy- RUMORS (possible spoilers)

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Could the Hulk solo film actually be a team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy?

This rumor would mean a giant leap for comic book films. No more curbing the fantastic to fit the mundane, and no more excuses of why a film can't go to truly interesting places.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has taken us to several of the Nine Realms of Yggdrasil, There was not much time spent in these other dimensions. However, with the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, that will change because the entire setting is off-world. They will have my three favorite things: space, aliens, and space aliens. GOTG will architect a whole new quadrant of the MCU while giving us fresh destination for some of our familiar Marvel characters.

McWeeny said this:
"[Hulk is headed off the planet on a quinjet] with no way to immediately turn things around. He’s going to have to ride out the trip. It’s pre-programmed and he can’t stop it. Here’s where I’d wager his spaceship is headed: wherever the Guardians of the Galaxy are located. If I was a betting man, I’d say there will be no Hulk solo film as part of Phase Three. Instead, Banner’s ship will take him to another planet, where he will end up meeting the Guardians and having an adventure with them.”
In the Planet Hulk comic book story line, Hulk is sent away from earth in a ship and he travels VERY FAR across the galaxy. This comes into play because HitFix.com's Drew McWeeny believes that this plot point will thrust Hulk into the GOTG side of the MCU. This story could serve as a Hulk sequel/GOTG sequel and lead up to Avengers 3 where the villain will be Thanos (voiced by Josh Brolin).
