Edgar Wright Parts with Ant-Man Project

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, was attached to direct an upcoming Marvel film, Ant-Man until he and Marvel released a joint statement on May 23, 2014.
(via the Hollywood Reporter):

"Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on 'Ant-Man' due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly."

This is a bit alarming as Ant-Man's release date is little more than a year away, but fans should not panic too much. Kevin Feige, producer and president of Marvel Studios, has done enough to earn some trust for this unfortunate occurrence. Mr. Feige has been at the helm for all previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films, serving as producer in each. The world, or worlds, that are given life on the screen are parts of a large universe that is the MCU. Marvel is sure to sign another director so they can get Phase Three of the MCU established and running smoothly.

Next year's, Avengers: Age of Ultron will close the chapter on Phase Two of the MCU and it's sure to thrill us at least as much as The Avengers.
