New Stargate Movie, Possible TRILOGY

VIEW ALL TOPICS

MGM and Warner Bros. come together!

Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin will join these two mega studios to bring forth a new STARGATE saga.

Emmerich directed the original hit, Stargate (1994), and the blockbuster Independence Day (aka ID4) (1996). Devlin was the producer for the original Stargate as well as a co-writer with Emmerich, and he helped produce ID4. It's GREAT news that these two are not strangers around each other.

MGM Chairman-CEO Gary Barber had this to say (via Variety):
“We couldn’t be more excited to once again partner with Roland and Dean, the world-class creators of the original ‘Stargate,’ to bring their reinvigorated vision of this wildly popular property to audiences of multiple generations. ’Stargate’ is one of the biggest titles in MGM’s vast library, and we look forward to adding this great franchise to our slate.”
The current plan is for this Stargate reboot to lead to a trilogy (that would be awesome).
