Transformers: Age of Extinction has crossed the $1B-mark!

As terrible as this film is, it has become the first of the year to reach MEGA BLOCKBUSTER status. Many had high hopes on this feat for the latest installment of Planet of the Apes, but no such luck for the best film of 2014. 

Part of this film's box office success comes from a total lack of competition in this seemingly disappointing film year. Will they have the Academy Awards next year?
