Brandon Routh joins the cast of Arrow as scientist Ray Palmer!

Routh (Superman Returns, 2006) has pulled a "Chris Evans" and is switching to a different pair of tights. He will have a recurring role as Ray Palmer on the CW show Arrow. Ray Palmer is a scientist/inventor who, in the comics, becomes The Atom. As The Atom, he uses a special suit to shrink down to the smallest levels of existence. This is a bit ironic since Routh is 6' 3''.

This marks the second attempt to get the character into a live-action production. The first was the failed (unaired) Justice League pilot for the CBS network.

Routh will join Devon Aoki and Peter Storemare as new cast members for the upcoming season.

Arrow returns for season 3 on October 8 on The CW.
