World's First POV Action Movie!

VIEW ALL TOPICS

Timur Bekmambetov to helm Hardcore!

The Russian production is about a cyborg searching for a woman he loved, presumably before he became a cyborg.

Bekmambetov is a Kazakh film genius, known in America for the films Wanted, 9, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. He has also done the Russian films Night Watch, the sequel Day Watch, and Black Lightning (my personal favorite).

Bekmambetov's current project is Hardcore, an action film described as the 'The world's first POV action movie.' This means that the perspective of the film will be from the main character's point of view (hence POV) much like that of today's video games. Bekmambetov will serve as producer on the film while first-timer Ilya Naishuller.

The film will star Sharlto Copley (District 9) and is set to be released sometime in 2014.

Naishuller's POV style will come from GoPro cameras, the same kind he used for a music video 'Bad Motherf***er' (for the rock band Biting Elbows). The resulting video was a hit and gave Naishuller the opportunity to direct this feature length film.
